EVENT: “Service in the City” – Saturday, June 16th, 2012
A letter from Abraham Metellus, Youth Pastor
Dear Church,
My name is Abraham Metellus and I lead a student ministry here in South Florida called 4:12. Part of our mission as a student ministry is to reach our communities with the Good News through acts of kindness and service. I pray that this letter finds you well as I share with you an invitation to serve our community together.
We borrowed an idea from Moody Bible Institute called “Service in the City”, which was an annual project that allowed students to step outside their normal routine and connect with other local ministries. Now our purpose as a student ministry is to both expose our students to other local ministries and intentionally partner with them to serve them. We want to stress to our students the importance of the Gospel as well as making Christ known through serving and loving our community. This is why “Service in the City” is one example of how 4:12 seeks to integrate faith and practical ministry experience. In fact, this year’s “Service in the City” will be at North Hialeah Baptist Church where we will be helping paint their building so that we can both encourage them as the body of Christ and help them reach their community with the Good News.
We would like to invite you to join us on Saturday, June 16th, 2012 from 9:00AM-5:00PM at North Hialeah Baptist Church located at 5800 Palm Avenue, Hialeah, FL 33012. Our objective for the day is to paint the outside walls of the church. Breakfast & lunch will be provided for all workers. However, painting supplies and volunteers are still needed to complete the task. Will you join us for “Service in the City” on June 16th as we gather together as the church to serve our community?
You can be part of this extraordinary event. Have you ever wanted the opportunity to serve the community? Well, you’re invited. You can register at http://sitcmiami.eventbrite.com/
